Virtual Penpal Lesson Plan- Madeline Aldinger
Hey group!
I was looking ahead at our assignments for the week and for the virtual pen pal lesson plan I was thinking that we could have students from two different states compare and contrast their favorite recipes! This would tie into the larger PBL project of the cookbook. Let me know what you guys think and I will get started on it and post the draft on here tomorrow or Tuesday for you all to review and make suggestions. Also, if you have any suggestions for what states and recipes to use let me know!

Actually it has to be from 2 different countries. So many students from the US and Japan could compare pasta recipes?
ReplyDeleteHey! I really enjoy this idea it just has to be global! So I think this is a great idea, we could use a penpal or skype to countries around the world to discuss the students favorite dishes and how to make them? Or we could look up foods and do what you said I like both ideas! Also thank you for looking ahead and getting started. Let me know if you need any help!
ReplyDeleteI agree! The recipe idea is great. I think what Madeline said was a good idea. Having the basis of the recipes be similar (like pasta based as you said Madeline) and then just comparing the difference in presentation, ingredients, portions, and so on. Maybe having the kids try it too. Did we want to do Japan and US pasta? We also have to make a lesson plan for it so do you guys want me to put that template on a google docs and share it to you all?
ReplyDeleteYes I think doing it on a shared google doc would be the best idea so that we can all contribute!
DeleteSweet! I made it so let me know if you guys can all see it when you can. I have a big gap between class and school tomorrow so I can work on it!
DeleteHey guys! Love the idea about sharing different websites! But yes, as Madeline mentioned, I think it needs to be different countries rather than states.. So I'm good with going USA and Japan if that's what you guys wanted to do :) It would be really cool to learn a little about culture this way too, by learning about the different types of foods people eat. Thank you Madeline for starting the doc, I'll go look at it now!
